Numbers 10 | King James Bible |
Chapter 11 | |
| And [when] the people complained,102 it displeased 241 the LORD: and the LORD heard4 [it]; and his anger was kindled;4 and the fire of the LORD burnt4 among them, and consumed4 [them that were] in the uttermost parts of the camp. |
| And the people cried4 unto Moses; and when Moses prayed101 unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.4 |
| And he called4 the name of the place 4725 Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt1 among them. |
| And the mixt multitude that [was] among them fell a lusting:98 8378 and the children of Israel also wept4 again,4 and said,4 Who shall give us flesh to eat?55 |
| We remember1 the fish, which we did eat4 in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick: |
| But now our soul [is] dried away: [there is] nothing at all, beside this manna, [before] our eyes. |
| And the manna [was] as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium. |
| [And] the people went about,1 and gathered1 [it], and ground1 [it] in mills, or beat1 [it] in a mortar, and baked14 [it] in pans, and made1 cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil. |
| And when the dew fell2 upon the camp in the night, the manna fell4 upon it. |
| Then Moses heard4 the people weep6 throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled4 greatly; Moses also was displeased.1 5869 |
| And Moses said4 unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted52 thy servant? and wherefore have I not found1 favour in thy sight, that thou layest2 the burden of all this people upon me? |
| Have I conceived1 all this people? have I begotten1 them, that thou shouldest say4 unto me, Carry3 them in thy bosom, as a nursing father6 beareth4 the sucking child,6 unto the land which thou swarest8 unto their fathers? |
| Whence should I have flesh to give2 unto all this people? for they weep4 unto me, saying,2 Give3 us flesh, that we may eat.4 |
| I am not able4 to bear2 all this people alone, because [it is] too heavy for me. |
| And if thou deal6 thus with me, kill3 me, I pray thee, out of hand,2 if I have found1 favour in thy sight; and let me not see4 my wretchedness. |
| And the LORD said4 unto Moses, Gather3 unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest1 to be the elders of the people, and officers6 over them; and bring1 them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand98 there with thee. |
| And I will come down1 and talk14 with thee there: and I will take1 of the spirit which [is] upon thee, and will put1 [it] upon them; and they shall bear1 the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear4 [it] not thyself alone. |
| And say4 thou unto the people, Sanctify100 yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat1 flesh: for ye have wept1 in the ears of the LORD, saying,2 Who shall give us flesh to eat?55 for [it was] well1 with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give1 you flesh, and ye shall eat.1 |
| Ye shall not eat4 one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days; |
| [But] even a whole month, 3117 until it come out4 at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised1 the LORD which [is] among you, and have wept4 before him, saying,2 Why came we forth1 out of Egypt? |
| And Moses said,4 The people, among whom I [am], [are] six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said,1 I will give4 them flesh, that they may eat1 a whole month. 3117 |
| Shall the flocks and the herds be slain11 for them, to suffice1 them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered11 together for them, to suffice1 them? |
| And the LORD said4 unto Moses, Is the LORD'S hand waxed short?4 thou shalt see4 now whether my word shall come to pass4 unto thee or not. |
| And Moses went out,4 and told17 the people the words of the LORD, and gathered4 the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set55 them round about the tabernacle. |
| And the LORD came down4 in a cloud, and spake17 unto him, and took55 of the spirit that [was] upon him, and gave4 [it] unto the seventy elders: 376 and it came to pass, [that], when the spirit rested2 upon them, they prophesied,101 and did not cease.1 |
| But there remained11 two [of the] men in the camp, the name of the one [was] Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested4 upon them; and they [were] of them that were written,7 but went not out1 unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied101 in the camp. |
| And there ran4 a young man, and told55 Moses, and said,4 Eldad and Medad do prophesy102 in the camp. |
| And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant18 of Moses, [one] of his young men, answered4 and said,4 My lord Moses, forbid3 them. |
| And Moses said4 unto him, Enviest18 thou for my sake? would God4 that all the LORD'S people were prophets, [and] that the LORD would put4 his spirit upon them! |
| And Moses gat11 him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel. |
| And there went forth1 a wind from the LORD, and brought4 quails from the sea, and let [them] fall4 by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits [high] upon the face of the earth. |
| And the people stood up4 all that day, and all [that] night, and all the next day, and they gathered4 the quails: he that gathered least56 gathered1 ten homers: and they spread4 [them] all abroad2 for themselves round about the camp. |
| And while the flesh [was] yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed,11 the wrath of the LORD was kindled1 against the people, and the LORD smote55 the people with a very great plague. |
| And he called4 the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried1 the people that lusted.102 |
| [And] the people journeyed1 from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth. |
