Psalms 80 | King James Bible |
Chapter 81 | |
| To the chief Musician18 upon Gittith, [A Psalm] of Asaph. |
| Take3 a psalm, and bring3 hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. |
| Blow3 up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. |
| For this [was] a statute for Israel, [and] a law of the God of Jacob. |
| This he ordained1 in Joseph [for] a testimony, when he went out2 through the land of Egypt: [where] I heard4 a language [that] I understood1 not. |
| I removed52 his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered4 from the pots. |
| Thou calledst1 in trouble, and I delivered17 thee; I answered4 thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved4 thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah. |
| Hear,3 O my people, and I will testify55 unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken4 unto me; |
| There shall no strange5 god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship101 any strange god. |
| I [am] the LORD thy God, which brought56 thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide,54 and I will fill17 it. |
| But my people would not hearken1 to my voice; and Israel would1 none of me. |
| So I gave them up17 unto their own hearts' lust: [and] they walked4 in their own counsels. |
| Oh that my people had hearkened6 unto me, [and] Israel had walked17 in my ways! |
| I should soon have subdued55 their enemies,6 and turned55 my hand against their adversaries. |
| The haters18 of the LORD should have submitted17 themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever. |
| He should have fed55 them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied55 thee. |
