Chapter 94

O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew⁵⁴ thyself.

Lift up¹⁰ thyself, thou judge⁶ of the earth: render⁵⁴ a reward to the proud.

LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?⁴

[How long] shall they utter⁵⁵ [and] speak¹⁷ hard things? [and] all the workers⁶ of iniquity boast¹⁰¹ themselves?

They break in pieces¹⁷ thy people, O LORD, and afflict¹⁷ thine heritage.

They slay⁴ the widow and the stranger, and murder¹⁷ the fatherless.

Yet they say,⁴ The LORD shall not see,⁴ neither shall the God of Jacob regard⁴ [it].

Understand,³ ye brutish⁶ among the people: and [ye] fools, when will ye be wise?⁵⁵

He that planted⁶ the ear, shall he not hear?⁴ he that formed⁶ the eye, shall he not see?⁵⁵

He that chastiseth⁶ the heathen, shall not he correct?⁵⁵ he that teacheth¹⁸ man knowledge, [shall not he know]?

The LORD knoweth⁶ the thoughts of man, that they [are] vanity.

Blessed [is] the man whom thou chastenest,¹⁷ O LORD, and teachest¹⁷ him out of thy law;

That thou mayest give him rest⁵³ from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged¹¹ for the wicked.

For the LORD will not cast off⁴ his people, neither will he forsake⁴ his inheritance.

But judgment shall return⁴ unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

Who will rise up⁴ for me against the evildoers?⁵⁶ [or] who will stand up¹⁰¹ for me against the workers⁶ of iniquity?

Unless the LORD [had been] my help, my soul had almost dwelt¹ in silence.

When I said,¹ My foot slippeth;¹ thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.⁴

In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight⁴⁶ my soul.

Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship²⁹ with thee, which frameth⁶ mischief by a law?

They gather themselves together⁴ against the soul of the righteous, and condemn⁵⁵ the innocent blood.

But the LORD is my defence; and my God [is] the rock of my refuge.

And he shall bring⁵⁵ upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off⁵⁵ in their own wickedness; [yea], the LORD our God shall cut them off.⁵⁵
