Chapter 6

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw⁴ also the Lord sitting⁶ upon a throne, high⁶ and lifted up,¹² and his train filled ⁸⁵³ the temple.

Above it stood⁶ the seraphims: each one had six ³⁶⁷¹ wings; ³⁶⁷¹ with twain he covered¹⁷ his face, and with twain he covered¹⁷ his feet, and with twain he did fly.³⁴

And one cried¹ unto another, and said,¹ Holy, holy, holy, [is] the LORD of hosts: the whole earth [is] full of his glory.

And the posts of the door moved⁴ at the voice of him that cried,⁶ and the house was filled¹¹ with smoke.

Then said⁴ I, Woe [is] me! for I am undone;⁸ because I [am] a man of unclean lips, and I dwell⁶ in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen¹ the King, the LORD of hosts.

Then flew⁴ one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, [which] he had taken¹ with the tongs from off the altar:

And he laid⁵⁵ [it] upon my mouth, and said,⁴ Lo, this hath touched¹ thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away,¹ and thy sin purged.²⁹

Also I heard⁴ the voice of the Lord, saying,⁶ Whom shall I send,⁴ and who will go⁴ for us? Then said⁴ I, Here [am] I; send³ me.

And he said,⁴ Go,³ and tell¹ this people, Hear³ ye indeed,² but understand⁴ not; and see³ ye indeed,² but perceive⁴ not.

Make the heart of this people fat,⁵⁴ and make their ears heavy,⁵⁴ and shut⁵⁴ their eyes; lest they see⁴ with their eyes, and hear⁴ with their ears, and understand⁴ with their heart, and convert,⁶ and be healed.¹

Then said⁴ I, Lord, how long? And he answered,⁴ Until the cities be wasted¹ without inhabitant,⁶ and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,¹¹

And the LORD have removed men far away,¹⁴ and [there be] a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

But yet in it [shall be] a tenth, and [it] shall return,¹ and shall be eaten:¹⁵ as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance [is] in them, when they cast [their leaves: so] the holy seed [shall be] the substance thereof.
